eating at Disneyland, so many choices, so little time

I love the food at Disneyland, I almost finish all the different restaurant at Disneyland, even thought it is a little expensive, but what can you do? unless you are willing to eat the sandwich and chips you brought from home, you have to pay for the food in Disneyland, they have food for different age, for adults, they have BBQ chicken and ribs, hamburger, sandwich, for kids, they have pizza, chicken finger, but for everybody, they have yummy snacks and desserts. if you have annual pass, you can get 10% off and 15% off for premium pass. the pass discount only works at the restaurant and some food stand. always be sure to ask and show you pass before they ring you up, cuz after they ring the cash register, they can't give you discount anymore.

a few unique food that you won't find anywhere else outside Disneyland is chocolate covered banana in the ice cream stand outdoors, super thick corn dog by the main street corn dog stand, pineapple ice cream at the Tiki juice bar by Adventureland, soups in bread bowls in different locations, special non alcohol mint julep lime juice by New Orleans Square's French market and of course the one and only Mickey mouse shape waffle. to view all the restaurant online check out.

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/list/

it tells you what they offer and the price range, some of the more expensive restaurant offers reservation, so you can call ahead of time. (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463

yeab, even their napkins has Mickey mouse design, how fun is this.

can you guess where this is at in Disneyland?

I have Disneyland S. Ca annual pass, so besides the blockout dates, I like to go as often as possible, now let's play a little game, the picture I took below are not regular Disneyland pix, but can you guess where this is at in Disneyland?

I have been to Disneyland for over 20 years, some of the place has changed and some are still the same. they have added new food, new stores and almost every time I go there, there are new items at the shop. I can tell you that until this day, I still havn't gone to every single place at Disneyland, I wish they made more stop for the railroad cuz right now there's only 4 stops, it would be easier for ppl just need to go to a certain area but didn't want to walk. it is a lot of walking, consider that you have to start walking after you get off the parking lot and more walking after you got in.

It is really super fun, just remember don't go on raining day or super hot day, and always eat breakfast before you go, because by the time you can eat something at Disneyland it would take 1 hour after you arrived. and most restaurant don't open till 11am so you have very limit selection. try to read the map the night before at home and figure out where you want to go and where you want to eat. I have a maps at home from different times and I even started collecting them. I have marked every single place and ride that I have been so I know what's left for me to go next time. if you are lots of energy, walk, but if you don't want to walk too much, take the railroad instead.

Random LA pictures.

I love taking pictures everywhere I go, I used either my cell phone or camera to take pictures. Of course the digital camera has better quality than the cell phone pictures. but sometimes when you're in the mall or in the restaurant, you don't really want to take out the big camera so a cell phone is a better choice. here's some random pictures that I took around LA. can you guess where it is?

LA is a place full of culture, we have all different kinds of people from different country comes here. that results so many different style of food and restaurants and shops. you don't have to leave LA to buy stuff from across the ocean or across the land. it's fun just to go out explore different areas. I have live here most of my life and I havn't gone to every single area in LA.

some pictures looks blurry cuz I was walking while taking pictures, but it does add a little cool effect. so for people out there wants to criticize my blurry non professional picture, I just want to tell you, I take pictures for myself not for professional photography contest. it is just fun, it is just for me. And I love my pictures.

taking picture is really fun, it is like a diary without words only picutres. as years past by, you can go back and look at all the old pictures you take. it is a real life documentary and it is real, it is the truth. I organize my pictures by folders and years. this way, anytime I want to look at a certain time period or place, I can just look it up. you're never going to have the old times back, we all grow up and grow old so why not take lots of pictures for memory.

Just some fun pictures of food.

I love eating, who doesn't? food is important and either if you cook at home or you dine out at the restaurant. it is fun, it is exciting, you can eat different kinds of food and dessert and snack. you can drink from wine to ice tea to sodas. I love taking pictures and here's some fun pictures of food that I want to share with you.

I just love taking pictures, of course it is taking a lot of time. when you sit down at a restaurant and you see the food coming, you want to clean your hands and start eating. but since I have to just take pictures of the food almost everywhere I go, I have to stop everybody from digging in and wait for me to take pictures. I like to take it from different angles, I love taking weird and fun pictures not just ordinary pictures that you can see everywhere.

Landry's Select club dining

I'm a member of the Landry's select club, their website is www.landrysinc.com

here's the benefit after you pay a one-time $25 enrollment fee.

  • $25 Welcome Reward (you get your $25 enrollment fee back right back, but you can't use it on the first time)
  • $25 Birthday Reward (you can use it any day in your birth month, so you just made $25 extra)
  • Priority Seating (some restaurant are busy and this can save you some time)
  • $25 Reward for Every $250 You Spend (so you better start eating)
  • Exclusive Offers
  • Retail Benefits (some restaurant have retail store and it offers 10% off)

the reason why I join is 3 of the restaurant I visited in LA is on there: Claim Jumper, Rainforest Cafe, and Bubba Gump. and just be sure to remember the date you purchase and spend at least over $250 per year. and everytime you dine any of the restaurants remember to give them the card so they can input the dollar amount you spend as points.

Rainforest Cafe(www.rainforestcafe.com) is a theme restaurant and it's not only for kids, it's for everybody, it's fun, it's loud, and it's exciting. be sure when you go to the restaurant to look around, there's surprise in every corner, there's a electronic animal live show once every 15 or 30 minutes, there's a bar for adults if you don't want to sit with kids. there's a retail store that you can shop while you wait for your food. so the theme is obviously rainforest, it will makes you feel that you are Indiana Jones dining in an adventure world.

Bubba Gump(www.bubbagump.com) is a seafood them restaurant, well, not as fancy as Rainforest Cafe but pretty cool too. you sit at the wood bench table and the bucket they give you has Bubba Gump logo, in case you're wondering, yes this is from the movie "Forest Gump". they have different types of seafood and different ways to cook shrimp, there's a retail store too (remember you can get 10%), I just love going to theme restaurants, they're so much more fun.

Claim Jumper(www.claimjumper.com) is a chain restaurant that has a mining theme. Everywhere you look in the restaurant you can feel the mining decor. it is really cool. But I just love the baby back ribs, almost everytime I go there, I order the ribs.

this is the Widow Maker Burger, the name is weird but it's delicious. I rarely eat anything else besides this and entree salad and baby back ribs, so I can't really tell you how the other dishes taste like. but you have to try this dessert, Mini Hot Fudge Sundae, it used to call the World's smallest Sundae then they change names. it is awesome, small but good because it's not too much, trust me, after you eat a big plate of salad and burger and ribs, you would want to have something just small. they have small size dessert like cupcake and cookie and declair, but you go with a big family or friends or company you can try their big giant size dessert. it might be the biggest cake you ever see, it is the Chocolate Motherlode Cake, 6 layers all chocolate. it is so good. one time I got it for free from their promotion and I ate some and take some home and we still enjoy it couple days after that.

love going out to eat, it's fun it's exciting it's relaxing

I just love going out to eat, either it's sit down at the restaurant or drive thru, it's fun, it's exciting and it's relaxing

here's some of the reason and picture of the food I took, let's see if you can guess which LA restaurant this is.

1. you don't have to cook, someone will cook for you. how great is this?

2. you don't have to plate your food, someone else will plate it for you and bring it to your table, well, unless it's buffet style

3. you have so many selection to choose from, from appt to entree to drinks.

4. you have so many restaurant to choose from, LA has many style from Asian to American to fast food to seafood and to many more.

5. you have people serve you, doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, once you step into a restaurant, there will be someone to serve you.

6. if you're young, and you dine out with your family or older people, they will pay for you. if you're a girl, your boyfriend or husband will pay and you don't have to.

7. you don't have to wash dishes, that's the best thing about going out to eat, you can make a mess on the table or your plate, and you don't have to clean up, but don't forget to leave tips.

8. DESSERT !!! yeah, have some sweet after the meal, it's awesome ~~~

9. the restaurant decor is unlike your kitchen or living room or your car, it looks luxury, it looks fancy and some restaurant have themes and some just looks pretty. you feel so good sitting down at a place that you are eating wonderful food with your mouth and your eyes too. and you feel so relaxed.

Bravo channel - love the reality show

love watching reality show, if you love it too, watch Bravo, it's channel 57 or 110. it start off with Project Runway, which now is no longer on Bravo but on Lifetime. it has reality show about different careers or lifestyle and competition. it has food competition like TOP CHEF which won awards. it has rich lifestyle around USA like Real housewives of Orange, CA, New york city, Atlanta, New Jersey, Miami, DC, Beverly Hills. mmm. I wonder what's the next city, I hope it would be Texas or somewhere in the middle of US.

there's career kind of reality show, like work out, fashion, music, art, real estate, hair, a lot of shows has been cancel, and some reality show star end up having its own show like Bethenny ever after, Tabatha takes over, Its a Brad Brad world. it's fun, it's entertaining, the only bad thing is that when you watch this channel too much, you kindda hate your parents for not being rich. a lot of ppl on this show is really rich and a lot is just for show. when they show the restaurants, it could just be free food for them to advertise on the show. you often see they show the sign of the restaurant and store they went to. a lot of editing effect too, maybe they didn't really argue or fight but the editing makes it look that way. the funny thing about this channel is that it has lots of re runs, sometimes you can still watch shows from years ago. sometimes they do a marathon of one show all day long. it's a fun thing to watch how the rich ppl lives but just be careful not to be sunk in too much or you end up being in deep depression.

ice cream shop at Disneyland Anaheim, CA

There's a couple ice cream shops at Disneyland Anaheim, CA. the most popular one is at the left side of main street, called Gibson Girl ice cream parlor. it has a jade green elephant decor and it looked very classic. but I don't like it's open too late around 11pm, come on, you can't offer ice cream earlier? and most ppl eat ice cream after lunch, so if you go there btw 12:30-2:30pm, it's packed with ppl, there's at least 7-12 customer in front of you, and most ppl don't just order 1 or 2, you often see father ordered about 3-5 ice cream for all the kids. and there's only a few table inside to sit.

if you want less line and cheaper ice cream you can just go across the street, it's called Main street cone shop hosted by Dreyer's. funny, why do they have 2 ice cream shop at the same place? but anyways, it is a quicker way to get ice cream, because it's not a shop with seats. most ppl might not know about this place so there's fewer lines.

and there's a hidden ice cream place in Adventureland called Tiki juice bar, hosted by Dole. this place is actually introduced to me by the girl that sold popcorn in main street. so sometimes you can talk to ppl worked at Disneyland to ask them some special place to go.

it's a small stand and if you don't know it's selling ice cream you probably pass it right by. I've been going to Disneyland for over 20 yrs and I don't even know about this place. but there's always a line, so anywhere if you sees a line, go wait in line doens't matter what they sell. it's mainly pineapple, it has just the juice or just the ice cream or you can have both. first time I was there I was a little worry because pineapple is sour, so I got the pineapple ice cream but I see a l lot of ppl got both, the pineapple juice and ice cream together. so next time I'll try that. it is refreshing and new kind of ice cream and it's awesome to eat in the hot summer day.

Here's more picture of different ice cream in Disneyland. do you know which shop they're from?

hidden awesome Restaurant inside Disneyland Anaheim, CA, Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue

one of the best restaurant in Disneyland, Anaheim CA might also be the best BBQ in LA. it is called BIG THUNDER RANCH BARBECUE

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/big-thunder-ranch-bbq/

located at the end of Disneyland by Toontown and Frontierland. it is really far so if you're like me and my boyfriend just going to Disneyland to eat, you can take the Railroad by the front door when you get in. there's no stop by Frontierland so you either have to get off at the 1st stop - New Orleans Square and walk towards Frontierland or you can get off at 2nd stop - Toontown and walk back. it is a little further if you get off at the 1st stop but if you don't like a lot of noise that made by kids, don't get off at Toontown. this restaurant is actually marked "Don't miss" on the Disneyland map.

it's all you can eat style, now before you think the price is too expensive, think about most of the 1 entry in Disneyland everywhere else is around $10-12, so to pay about $15-$35.99 for all you can eat is great. $21.99 lunch and $2.99 for drinks and dinner is $24.99, so I think $15 is either for vegetairan or dessert. dessert menu is ranch hand sundaes and old fashioned ice cream floats, seasonal cobblers, fresh strawberry shortcake or a family-style cookie bake topped with vanilla bean ice cream and hot fudge. dessert is charge extra and price varies. lunch is till 3:40pm and it is barbeque chicken and ribs, cole slaw, ranch beans and cornbread. dinner starts at 4pm and it is the same as lunch plus smoked sausages and corn wheels.

I think the chicken is more special than the ribs, but my boyfriend liked both. the corn bread comes with little butter and beans are great. the one I love the most has to be the chicken. it has a sweet taste which is rare. it is not buffet but all you can eat style. so if you need any more food, just ask the server. the server is dress up in Western cowboy cowgirl style. the food is a little slow I guess it takes a long time to cook so make sure you go there a little early. if you don't like loud noise, DO NOT SIT BY THE FRONT ROW. the first time we went there, we sat at the front row. it is so loud. and all the parents are mocking around our table to take pix of their kids on stage. they have performance, singing and music and it is fun. I also love the little glass they put drinks in. it just taste so awesome, I love half coke and half diet, but the server called it coke zero. it is so good, probably the greatest half coke half diet drink I ever had. for 2 ppl, everything is enough but the chicken, so just ate the chicken first and ask for more. it comes in a very cute bucket, everything is like Western style, and it is so cute and fun. first I don't like the loud noise and the long wait but after I taste the chicken and drink it is so awesome.

Vegetarians can also eat here, their menu is barbecue skewer with potatoes, squash, bell peppers, mushrooms and tofu. I don't know the price because I didn't know they offer this. you can also call ahead to make reservation at (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463. I just think it's so far and if you walked the whole day and have to go all the back at the end of Disneyland, it would not so tired. I really wish they offer to go box just for the meat. I really think Disneyland should offer a to go service by the front gate for all the famous dishes in the park.

Havn't tried the dessert yet but I will next time I go back, this is a DO NOT MISS spot not only in Disneyland but also in LA. great experience and fun and awesome great delicious food.

hurry up to Glendale Galleria, Glendale, CA for major sale event

Hurry up to Glendale Galleria located in Glendale, CA, it's one of the largest and classic mall in LA. you can get there by freeway 134 exit Brand Blvd or freeway 5 exit Colorado St. the most special about this mall is that you can either go in the Nordstrom side or you can go into the other side which is the new Target store they just added and JCPenny. these two entrance has different feeling and since the mall is so big, you can just hang out either entrance and go to the other one next time. and another best thing about this mall that none of other mall in LA has is that when you finish shopping in this mall you can just go across the street to the new Americana.

Americana and the Grove is the new trend for malls for the last 7-10 yrs. it's kindda like Asian style because in Asia, space is so precious, they build apartments above malls and shopping streets. it's for singles or small familys that loved being in luxury apartments and able to shop and eat downstairs, they don't have to maintain a yard but they have these large fountains and grass downstairs. the fountain has a water dance show and the street is full of cool American feel music and scenery. it would be great if they have more food cart. I never really park there because they charge parking fees, why not just park in Glendale Galleria and walk over. how to get there from the mall? just go to JCPenny by the Target side and find the Gap store, and whoala you can just go out to the mall and walk into Americana.

the best sale event of the year is happening right now, this year 2012, they finally decided to remodel the old Mervyn's store down by the Nordstrom side. the old Mervyn's has been empty for years, ppl just go to Nordstrom and not willing to go further. so they thought since across the street is Americana, one of the classic outdoor mall in LA, why not bringing Bloomingdale's. Bloomingdale's only open in the luxury mall like Beverly Center and Century city. they're located next to the rich city. since Bloomingdale's coming in 2013. most of the big store on the Nordstrom side is also doing big remodling. there will be other new remodling around the mall, for example, the restroom by food court is way too small and I'm really glad they will be remodling it. it is so exciting but not a good news for other stores right now. there will be dust and noise during construction so the big store like Disney store and Coach has to move somewhere else in the mall. they need to make money every day, one day they're closed, they're losing a lot of money compare to smaller stores. so they want to not stay at the current location during the construction. so where will the small stores move to? they will either closed temporary or forever. right now a lot of small stores are having major sales like 40-50% off per item. this is not buy 1 get 1 50% off. each item is close to half off, this is great. like shopping in discount store. so if you have time, go to Glendale Galleria, look for the half off sign. grab it and get it and go home happy.
